In India, astronauts are not directly recruited from the general public. Currently, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) selects astronauts primarily from among its experienced scientists, engineers, and Indian Air Force test pilots for specific missions like Gaganyaan. On the other hand, NASA only recruits U.S. citizens as astronauts. If there are any changes to these recruitment practices, we will update you accordingly.
